The school will provide tutorials and practical sessions on neural dynamics and its application for the design and modeling of embodied and situated cognitive systems. The school is intended for students at advanced undergraduate or graduate level, postdocs and faculty members in the areas of embodied cognition, cognitive science and robotics.
Each participant will develop a robotics project of his or her own, possibly in small groups. Template code will be available out of which such projects can be developed.
Topics will be addressed: attractor dynamics, Dynamic Field theory (DFT), elements of embodied cognition, implementation issues.
Case Studies: target acquisition, obstacle avoidance, object representations, scene representation, sequence generation, sequence learning, decision making in joint action, goal directed imitation learning, human-robot joint action. |

This is the second edition of the successful school “Neuronal Dynamics Approaches to Cognitive Robotics”, which last year was held at the Institüt fur Neuroinformatik, Bochum, Germany. This year was held at the beautiful city of Guimarães, in Portugal.
This edition is co-organized by: · University of Minho: Centre Algoritmi/Department of Industrial Electronics and Center for Mathematics/Department of Mathematics and Applications. · Ruhr Universität Bochum: Institut für Neuroinformatik.
